We did it! Six days and five nights in Walt Disney World. It was just as magical as I remember and I’m pleased to report that the rest of my family felt the same way. It was their first visit and, needless to say, we’re already planning our next visit back.
We made it to every park, plus Typhoon Lagoon and Disney Springs, but the Magic Kingdom is so awesome that it warranted two visits – our first day and our last day.
What Makes the Magic Kingdom so Special?
It’s hard to pinpoint what it is that makes Disney’s Magic Kingdom so special, but we all felt it – as everyone who visits does. There’s something about that place – the mix of innocence and nostalgia, the escape from the realities of every day life, that keeps you happy despite the long lineups and the unrelenting heat. And make no mistake, if you visit in August like we did you’ll get plenty of both!
However, the beauty of visiting in late August is that you’ll get to see all the Halloween decorations. Sadly, we missed Mickey’s Not-So-Scary-Halloween party, but the next morning we got to see the aftermath. Honestly, if you get the chance to see the Magic Kingdom during a holiday I highly recommend it. They do decorations like no one else.
If we decide to go back next year, or possibly the next, I’ll plan better so that we can see the party. The lights and the sounds we heard coming from the park the night of the party were pretty intriguing, and I’d hate to miss it again. But even so, I have no regrets about anything on our trip. Yes, it cost a small fortune, but it was worth every penny. The itinerary was just about perfect, and we came home exhausted but happy.
I cannot recommend a visit to Walt Disney’ World’s Magic Kingdom enough. I’ll post more about the trip in the coming weeks, but for now I just had to get it off my chest. It really is
The Happiest Place on Earth!
