Have you seen an influx of rooms with dark green walls in your Pinterest feed lately? I have, and I’m not mad about it. They’re rich, they’re dramatic, and I can’t get enough of them.
Dark Green Mudroom
This is the photo that did it for me. It’s such a small area and yet it says so much. The deep green colour is so rich and it plays beautifully off the warm, hardwood floor and (vintage?) rug. I even love the way they styled it. Yes to the brown leather satchel, the antique accessories, the greenery, and the Hunter boots. Kudos the stylist. Dark Green Dining Room
The combination of dark green and gold is so sumptuous that I can barely stand it. But it can’t be just any green. It’s got to be just the right shade so that the gold jumps out and takes centre stage. This dining room from Turner Pocock achieves just the right balance and manages to be both modern and warm at the same time.
Dark Green Bedroom
Well hello there, dark green walls and bold floral artwork. I could definitely snuggle in at night with you. Normally I wouldn’t go this dark in a bedroom as I usually prefer fresher, brighter bedrooms, but this bedroom from Vacation House Rules is so warm and cozy I can’t resist. I think what keeps it from being too dark is the fact that they’ve only done the green three-quarters of the way up. It creates a sense of space and allows for a little breathing room. And that artwork? OMG. I would take it in an instant.
Dark Green Bathroom
I love this bathroom from Jenna Sue Design Co. It looks like a million bucks, but according to her blog post, she was able to do it on a very reasonable budget. There’s something about the way the white vanity jumps out from the dark green walls that makes it very striking. And the gold hardware adds a touch of elegance. I don’t know if I would be able to take the dark green plunge in a main bathroom, but in a powder room for sure.
So, will the dark green trend last? Hard to say, and truthfully, I can see that I *might* get tired of it in time. If I were going to take the plunge I would probably stick with a smaller area, like the mudroom pictured above, or a single feature wall. For now I’ll probably admire it from afar, but you never know what future creative outbursts may bring!
