I’ve been a fan of star light fixtures since the first time I saw one about 15 years ago. I was working in a vintage store and the ones we got in were the real deal. Fragile and old but absolutely adorable. I wasn’t in the market for one at the time, but now, all these years later, I think I’m ready. I’m in need of two lights for over a kitchen island, and some cute stars fit the bill. I’ve seen them used in kitchens before and they look awesome. I’m tired of boring pendant lights and I love that these add a little depth and excitement. I also like that they’re versatile. If I ever change my mind or get tired of them, I can use them in a hallway, bedrooms or nook. I’ve even seen them used outside to great effect.
These days star light fixtures can be found at a lot of major retailers, and while I normally don’t go for the mass-produced versions of antiques, in this case I’m willing to make an exception. I found this one on Wayfair and I think I might take the plunge. The price is great and the reviews give me a fair bit of confidence.
Truth be told, I would MUCH prefer a gold or silver version, but the rest of my household has vetoed it. They were willing to accept the star light, but they were pretty firm on the finish. Now that I live with people who have opinions I’ve had to learn to compromise. (It sucks BTW.)
So there you have it. Much like my Pottery Barn curtains, I’ve waited a long time and I finally get to fulfill a design dream. Stay tuned for the reveal!
